A LITTLE BIT ABOUT FRIENDS NURSERY SCHOOL
Friends Nursery School is a non-profit, non-sectarian, cooperative nursery school. Since 1955, we have offered part time, play-based preschool programs for children ages 3 to 5 and their families.
In our 56 plus years of nurturing children, we've found that they thrive when they're empowered to choose their own activities, and develop their imaginations within a play space that is varied, fun, stimulating, age appropriate, and rich in learning opportunities. A daily routine offers a sense of stability and security as they discover all the exciting facets of the program. The environment and activities are stimulating, nurturing and safe, guided by creative, energetic,cheerful and very experienced teachers who bring their own unique talents into each program.
Our programs are designed to foster the whole child, through active exploration, thoughtful process, practice and enthusiasm, we pay particular attention to social and emotional well being. Our goal is to help every child entrusted to us develop the self confidence, social skills, and emotional maturity they'll need to transition smoothly from home to our school and beyond. Our children have a natural instinct for learning new skills and activities encouraged by the contents of themes and activities in our age appropriate programs.
Now more than ever, Friends provides a safe, calm, loving place where children can relax and enjoy the unhurried activities, explorations and play they so need in this busy time. Their individuality is cherished and fostered, their confidence and socialization encouraged, preparing them for a successful Kindergarden experience.
Families are able to benefit from our co-operative environment. The school is a wonderful place for friendships to form amongst the adults. There are lots of opportunities to engage one another in conversation and out of school activities. Working together for the good of the school has fostered many life time friendships.
