- OPENINGS: A completed admission form places your family on our priority wait list. When an opening occurs, you will be contacted for a school visit, and offered a placement into the class of your preference. Currently, we have a few openings in our TTH PM class for 3 year olds for the 2008-2009 school year. Please contact the Director for other potential class openings.
- Alumni Families: Siblings of alumni's are given preference. Alumni admissions for the next school year begins each October. Contact Annette Daniels for details.
- Current Families: Current students are guaranteed space in the following year's program if they complete all necessary forms by the due dates and have completed their Fundraising and Workday credits for the current year.
- New Families: Our school year runs September to June. Admissions for the next school year begins each October. A detailed Admissions Packet, including dates, fees, and forms, for the next year is usually posted by September 15.
Friends does not select children by interview, testing, or demographics, but welcomes new children into our programs on a first come first serve basis from a Priority List . This list is initially created on the last Saturday in October. The list is only for children who are eligible to attend Friends in the following year:
- They will be at least 3 years old by Dec 2 of the year in which they are enrolled
- They will be potty trained by the start of school (no pull-ups please!)
On the first day the list is open, we take names by phone only. The date and time of your call determines your position on the list--first call, first on the list, second call, second, etc.--assuming you follow up with a completed application as required. After that, new names are added to the list in the order we receive their completed applications.
We begin placing students in February. When your child's name is at the top of the list, you'll meet with our Director to tour the program desired for your child. All families are typically notified of their status by mid April.
OPENINGS - call 650-856-6152 for an update on present openings. We do sometimes have unexpected openings during the school year. If you're looking to start immediately, please contact us now about availability.
You can expect the following fees and deposits:
- $25 non-refundable application fee due with Application Form
- $100 non-refundable placement fee when you accept a spot in our program after your tour
- A one month tuition deposit due at placement. The deposit is applied to your June tuition installment. It is forfeited if your child doesn't attend Friends as planned.
School Visits
Each January, we hold an annual Open House (for adults only). This is an opportunity for you to tour our classrooms, see how we typically set up for a school day, meet the teachers, and ask questions. Outside of this event, we can't permit school visits until your name is next up on the Priority List. At that time, you and your child may visit the program(s) you are considering while class is in session. These 1/2 hour visits with our director typically occur in Feb-April. Once your child is enrolled, you are welcome to visit according to the guidelines in our Open Door Policy.
